Cascara Maple Mojito

Pouring cascara iced tea

Spring seems to be upon us, folks! We've beat the winter and for that we all deserve a huge pat on the back. Looking to celebrate? Us too. Here at Tala we celebrate beverage-style pretty often (I mean can you blame us?) and we have recently discovered an amazing spring drink that we want to share with all of you: the Cascara Maple Mojito.

This beverage begins with our Cascara. Cascara is the fleshy part of the coffee cherry which can be steeped and brewed just like tea to make a light juicy beverage. For this recipe, we begin with a base of cold-brewed Cascara. Cold-brewed Cascara is super easy and we have full directions here.

For this recipe you'll need:

  • 3c cold-brewed Cascara

  • 1/4c maple syrup

  • 3 limes

  • Handful of mint + extra for garnish

directions:

  1. Pour cascara into pitcher ( a half gallon pitcher works great!)

  2. Squeeze in juice from 1 lime

  3. Add maple syrup while stirring

  4. Stir it up!

  5. Cut up lime slices or wedges (whichever suites your fancy). Split between pitcher and glasses for serving

  6. Add mint leaves

  7. Let sit a few minutes for the mint leaves to really give some flavor

  8. Add ice

recipe yields about 4 servings.

variations

Varying this recipe is super easy. Try rosemary instead of mint, or agave instead of maple! Or for an adult version of this beverage add a few ounces of white rum to make a true mojito. There are endless opportunities for spring-time beverages! Try one today.
