Pie Pairings

Hosting around the holidays can be stressful; let us make it easier for you! We’ve taken on the challenge of figuring out what pies pair best with our current coffee offerings. Let’s review our findings:

Pumpkin Pie + Decaf

It’s America’s favorite holiday dessert and it’s one of our favorites, too! If pumpkin pie is a staple in your home around the holiday season, our decaf coffee should be as well. While our decaf pairs well with most desserts, the sweet and savory of a pumpkin pie compliments this coffee’s chocolate-y body. Enjoy an after-dinner-treat and sip a warm cup of our Columbian decaf coffee without the caffeine jitters!

Apple Pie + Ruca House Blend

Talk about a perfect match! Our Ruca House Blend is a Tala classic and our most approachable coffee. A cup of Ruca would taste delicious with any pie but shines its brightest when served alongside a slice of apple pie. The apple cinnamon of the pie compliments the milk chocolate and vanilla notes of Ruca while highlighting its natural tarty apple flavor for a classic combination.

Pecan Pie + Kayon Mountain Farm

A crowd favorite like pecan pie is an excellent companion for Kayon Mountain Farm, a returning Tala favorite, a single-origin coffee from Ethiopia. This coffee is sweet and floral with notes of orange juice, hibiscus, and warming vanilla. The light, juicy fruit flavors in this coffee couples well with a rich slice of pecan pie.

Blueberry Pie + Finca Cerro Negro

Our El Salvador single origin, Finca Cerro Negro, has the best balance of sweetness and acidity. With tasting notes of toffee, green raisin, and lime, a cup of this coffee goes well with a sweet slice of blueberry pie. You’ll definitely want another cup… and maybe another slice of pie!

Chocolate Pie + Finca La Primavera

Nothing says dessert like a succulent piece of chocolate pie. This holiday season, pour yourself a cup of our Colombian single origin, with notes of amaretto, pomegranate, and blood orange, to enjoy alongside your slice! You will not be disappointed by this dynamic combination of decadent chocolate with the lighter juicy notes of the Finca La Primavera.

Cherry Pie + Asman Gayo Mill

Our first ever Sumatra, the Asman Gayo Mill, is a surprisingly delicious medley of savory and sweet. We’ve tasted notes of oolong tea, cola, and concord grape in this coffee and would pair it with a tart slice of cherry pie. The fizzy cola note couples perfectly with syrupy cherry, for a nostalgic holiday fix.

Make sure to get a freshly roasted bag of coffee (or two) and impress your guests with one of our perfect pie pairings—order online or stop into one of our cafes!
