The perfect daily driver coffee

Sometimes the most exciting and interesting coffees are the wild, big, experimental ones, but more often it is the beautifully simple ones that become your go-to. This coffee from Carlos Alberto Portillo is a shining example of this notion. This coffee stood out to us for its big, layered sweetness. It was noticeably sweeter than any other sample we tried beside it, with a dense, mouthwatering juiciness that was so instantly enjoyable. Its simplicity of flavors and immense sweetness make it feel approachable, yet refined and elegant. It’s the perfect daily driver coffee that also feels wonderfully luxurious.

 
 

From our importer: “Finca Don Pancho is located in the community of El Cielito, Santa Bárbara, Honduras, and is run by Alberto Portillo. He is a coffee producer by tradition and an important part of Beneficio San Vicente’s specialty coffee program. The farm is approximately 4.5 Ha and sits at an elevation of 1,450 m.a.s.l, where he grows Geisha and Parainema varieties… around 12,000 trees in production in total. Alberto’s process starts by handpicking and selecting the ripest cherries and then floating and de-pulping them that same afternoon. It is then dry-fermented for between 15 hours, washed, and placed to dry on raised beds. Depending on the weather, the drying process lasts from 10 to 16 days, really reaffirming the Honduran terroir.”
