Barista Beats: Cafe Playlists
When you walk into Tala, the first thing you notice is the atmosphere: the rich aroma of freshly brewed coffee, the soft hum of conversations, and the comforting hiss of the espresso machine. But there’s another key ingredient to our cafe’s vibe—the music. The playlists you hear are handpicked by our baristas, adding a personal touch to your Tala experience. Ever wonder what they’re queuing up while they’re behind the bar? Let’s dive into our Highwood baristas’ favorite tracks and discover the sounds that fuel their shifts.
Bri
Bri brings a mix of indie pop and classic vibes to the cafe. Her favorites include Five N'Dime by Mills, Light My Love by Greta Van Fleet, and Talk Too Much by COIN. She's also a fan of Alec Benjamin's album Narrated for You. There is not shift where she’s on bar and You're So Vain by Carly Simon does not play.
Grace
Grace sets a mellow, introspective mood with her playlist. She loves Care by Hana Vu and dives deep into Hozier's soulful album Unreal Unearth Unending. She also enjoys the dreamy sounds of Jay Som's album Anak Ko.
Mia
Mia’s playlist blends together with soulful and smooth songs. She spins Charmed by Stella and Redinho, Water Your Garden by Magic City Hippies, My Jinji by Sunset Rollercoaster, and Easier Said Than Done by Thee Sacred Souls.
Alo
Alo keeps it eclectic and fun. She loves I'm on Fire by Bruce Springsteen and can't get enough of Lola Young and Rachel Chinouriri. She also is known for playing The Wicked soundtrack and vibing with Cowboy Carter.
Abbi
Abbi brings some country charm to Tala with tracks like Night Shift by Jon Pardi. She’s also a big fan of Kacey Musgraves, whose country-pop melodies often fill the cafe.
Alo Ochoa
Alo is often found behind the bar at the Highwood Cafe. When she's not crafting drinks, she's listening to history podcasts or perfecting her latest baking creation.
