Celebrating Eight Years
A Huge thank you!
Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate with us last weekend. It is always such a joy to meet so many folks who enjoy good coffee and great community.. We also want to say a special thanks to the other small businesses that partnered with us this weekend: Milwalky Taco, Ava’s Italian Ice, Magic Crepes, and Sweet Joy Bakeshop.
We are truly always surprised to see how many people come to celebrate with us. We’re thankful for a community that values a good party and shows up to support each other in little and big ways!
Over the course of the weekend we had a few competitions and activities going on with major prizes at stake. We love to do things like these for the opportunity for folks to win exciting things, but mostly as a way to get people involved in the fun. This year it was particularly fun to see so many people connect with their inner child in the coloring competition. As one of our favorite regulars once said, “I love that no one at Tala is too cool to have fun.” That pretty much sums up our entire attitude on weekends like this one, and it is so fun to watch others embrace the same thing as they have fun together and find reason to celebrate. Cheers to everyone who participated and especially the happy winners!
Bean Counting Competition
The classic guess-the-number-in-the-jar competition never gets old. We had 197 people respond, and one person was shockingly close to the correct answer—only a few beans off!
Actual beans in the jar: 7770
Closest guess: 7767
Eight is Great competition
In the Eight is Great competition, individuals had to identify the theme or category tying together eight items for each question. Those who enjoy NY Times games may have excelled naturally, although this game also stretched the limits of coffee and Tala-specific knowledge. No one got all eight questions right, but several got close. If you’re curious to see the answers, here they are!

Coloring competition
It was so fun to see everyone displaying their artistic skills over the weekend. The coloring station seemed to be full all day on both days with kids and adults alike. We had some very impressive submissions in all age groups, making it very difficult to choose our final winners. Although it was a tough decision, we have identified our winners. Check out each age-group’s amazing talent below.
Age 1-5 winner: Oliver
Age 6-9 winner: William
Age 10-13 winner: Emi
Age 14-17 winner: Emma
Age 18+ winner: Krystyna
Grand Prize Raffle
All weekend long, we had a grand prize raffle going. Folks got tickets for buying drinks, buying Birthday Bash Blend, having a subscription to our newsletter, etc. The lucky winner received a $100 cafe gift card and a year-long Coffee Club Subscription—a grand prize indeed! We chose a ticket at random (congrats, Harrison). If you’d like to see the video, hop on over to our Instagram page.
