Highwood Turns 7!

We’re celebrating SEVEN YEARS at our Highwood Cafe this weekend! As the adage goes, time flies when you’re having fun! We’ve experienced the time flying by these past seven years as we’ve served up coffee to the community of Highwood. There are so many memories to celebrate—from our first day open to each of our birthday celebrations. From Halloween bingo to public cuppings. From COVID turning everything upside down to four-million-dollar cars on the patio. We’ve had so much fun in each season getting to know regulars and newcomers, those visiting from out of town and those just stopping by. We’re incredibly thankful for these past seven years, and cannot wait to celebrate more and more to come.

To mark this occasion, we’re inviting you to comment below with your favorite memory at the Highwood Cafe for your chance to win a $100 cafe gift card. We can’t wait to see all the memories cooked up!

a walk down memory lane

While you think up your favorite time at the Highwood Cafe, let’s jog your memory with some past blog posts.

  • For our second birthday, we did a similar exercise as this year, inviting our staff to write a blog post about their favorite memory. We had some excellent blogs from our team, but the most popular was Conner’s piece, Things and Stuff, which became a Pinterest sensation recently—who knew that would happen!

  • Learn more about the history of the Highwood Cafe building and our cafe exclusive mainstay, The Engine 37, from Alo’s blog, From Firehouse to Coffeehouse: Brewing a Legacy at Tala.

  • Remember the first summer post-COVID when we went extra hard with Tala Tiki Time.

  • If you know anything about the city of Highwood, it’s probably the festivals. Read about one of our first Pumpkin Fest weekends in Highwood back in 2019.

  • Go all the way back to the beginning when we first announced our upcoming cafe!

What’s your favorite memory?

Comment below with your favorite memory at the Highwood Cafe since we’ve been open to enter our $100 cafe gift card giveaway. Comments through midnight on our birthday, August 11th, will be accepted as entries!
