We're Still Open!
Many of you have been wondering what the recent ban of restaurants and bars in Illinois has meant for Tala. We are making changes to abide by this law, and continuing to be flexible and creative as we approach new ways to serve our customers through this health crisis.
What it means for us
Thankfully, it means that our Highwood Cafe can remain open for to-go orders only. We currently have our whole menu available. Customers can come inside and order as usual, but must leave after receiving their beverage.
We will be operating according our normal hours as listed below until further notice. Stay up-to-date with any changes on our social media.
Monday - Friday 6am - 7pm
Saturday 7am -8pm
Sunday 7am - 6pm
We are continuing to uphold our high sanitary practices as we announced earlier this week to limit the spread of the virus and protect our community and our staff.
Thank you!
We feel the support of our community so much through this time. All of you that continue to support us through buying coffee online, stopping in for to-go drinks and just staying connected through social media really means the world to us.
Although no one is impervious to this virus or the ripple effects it will have on our economy—least of all, perhaps, small businesses like us—we have every confidence that we will make it out the other side of this because of our amazing customer support. Thank you for thinking of us in this time.
When the new mandate was announced on Sunday we ran out of retail coffee bags in the cafe within 2 hours because of all of you that considered our coffee the top of your list for “doomsday prepping” and we could no be more honored to hold that place for so many of you. As a reminder, you can always order coffee online. Our shelves are now fully stocked again, by the way!
How you can continue to help
We have had many people ask how they can help in this time of trial—again, we have the absolute best customers—and here are a few little ways you can help small businesses like us:
Come in to the cafe only if you’re feeling well. As per CDC recommendations, people experiencing even preliminary symptoms of the virus should stay home to avoid contaminating others around them.
Buy coffee to brew at home. If you’re experiencing symptoms or other-wise staying at home, you can still support our small business by purchasing coffee to brew at home.
Stay connected online. Wherever the next several weeks takes us as a community, we’re determined to stay engaged with those around us even while we all practice social distancing. We are excited to find creative ways to connect with you on social media and through continuous updates. Seeing how you’re brewing our coffee at home or what coffee is your current favorite means so much to us!
If you decide to visit the cafe, practice appropriate social distancing. The CDC is recommending 3-6 ft. distance between individuals to mitigate the spread of the virus. We’re very happy to have you come into the cafe but we want to make sure everyone is safe!
Check out our other items online, too. If you’re looking for more ways to support us but you’re stocked up on coffee, we offer all of our merchandise, brewing gear and more on our website.
Safety First
Many people have empathized with us and the hit we will take as a business and as individuals as a result of this new restriction. Although it is posing a serious obstacle to us and—most importantly our staff—we are sincerely happy to oblige with whatever is best for our community. As I said before, we have every confidence that we will emerge the other side of this trying time with full support from all of you, so our biggest concern is solely the safety of individuals we serve.
Follow along
Of course this pandemic is changing daily, and we are all trying to remain on top of the constant stream of news. As restrictions continue, we will be looking for flexible and creative ways to serve our community safely. Follow us on Instagram and Facebook for the most recent updates as we hope to add delivery options and other ordering platforms. Stay tuned!
As long as we can operate safely, we will continue to do so.
