Fazenda Boa Vista - Minas Gerais, Brazil
We are thrilled to introduce our first-ever, sweet, and beautiful coffee from Brazil! Fazenda Boa Vista, a flourishing farm nestled in the rolling hills of Ibiraci, Minas Gerais, has proven its vibrant coffee to be a force to be reckoned with among its competition across the country.
A Legacy of Coffee Excellence
Fazenda Boa Vista is managed by Anderson Monteiro de Andrade, a 47-year-old second-generation coffee grower. The farm spans an impressive 900 hectares, yet only 72 hectares are dedicated to coffee cultivation. Sitting at an elevation of 1,100 m.a.s.l., the farm nurtures around 150,000 coffee trees, producing varietals such as Red and Yellow Catuaí, Catucai, and IPR 98.
30 Years in the Coffee Business
Through the highs and lows of growing coffee in Brazil, Anderson has managed to maintain the farm’s operations as a unique, family-centric enterprise. With his three siblings, Monteiro de Andrade inherited the land from their father and built Fazenda Boa Vista into the flourishing farm it is today. With 13 children between the siblings, the family hopes to inspire future generations to continue their legacy.
Sustainability & Innovation
The family values sustainable agricultural practices, striving to minimize chemical fertilizers in favor of biological products and composting to enhance soil health and biodiversity. As Fazenda Boa Vista continues to grow, Anderson and his siblings are increasingly exploring regenerative agriculture and innovative post-harvest management techniques to ensure their coffee remains progressive and eco-friendly.
The Climate & Its Influence on Flavor
Minas Gerais is known for its ideal coffee-growing climate, featuring warm days and cool nights that allow coffee cherries to develop slowly, resulting in a more complex and refined flavor profile. The region’s well-distributed rainfall and mineral-rich soil contribute to the overall sweetness and clarity of Fazenda Boa Vista’s coffee, making it a truly exceptional brew.
Flavor Profile
Fazenda Boa Vista offers an exciting sweet citrus and tropical fruit-forward profile. Each cup bursts with sweet notes of lemon, papaya, and guava, all balanced by the notes of a crisp, juicy watermelon. It’s a coffee that invites you to savor it on a warm spring day.
A Natural Process Coffee Like No Other
This Natural lot undergoes meticulous processing, starting with selective cherry picking and floating before a 36-hour dry fermentation in sealed tanks. Then, the cherries are spread out to dry on expansive open patios for 12 to 15 days, depending on weather conditions. This careful method enhances the coffee’s depth and complexity, creating a cup that is as rich in character as it is in flavor.
As Anderson puts it, “Coffee is our daily motivation,” and this passion is evident in every bean. By embracing social and environmental responsibilities, Fazenda Boa Vista supports everyone involved in the process while ensuring a sustainable future for coffee cultivation, and delicious coffee.
From The Roasters
“This wonderfully vibrant coffee from Finca Boa Vista is the first coffee from Brazil we have ever sourced! In an endless sea of lower quality coffees produced in Brazil, this one blew us flipped the script and blew us away. It's not only one of the best Brazil offerings we've ever tasted, but one of the better coffees we've tasted in general this year.”
